Music Monday

23 May

Beyonce performed Who Run the World Girls at the Billboard awards last night and it is epic! I’ve read a lot of criticism of the original music video for being too sexy and therefore not actually in line with the song’s message. I see where they are coming from, and definitely think Beyonce makes some ridiculous choices sometimes (see: her video with Shakira; any of her perfume adverts; her decision to go blackface for a French magazine) but I think having a military / revolution inspired dance routine headed up by a beautiful black woman with her fist in the air singing “I’m repping for the girls who taking over the world help me raise a glass for the college grads” is pretty cool.

(By the way, music starts half way through video after major industry Beyonce love-in).

love it, love it, love it.

seriously can’t count how many times i’ve watched it already.

the interaction between b and the projections just blows my mind – as does thinking about how many hundreds of hours of work must have gone into that performance alone!

i love all the big ups at the beginning too, just hypes it all up so much, and then she is just so amazing and humble at the end.

    wow, i’m a fangirl.

    but omg ❤

don’t worry, I’m a fangirl too. I’m praying that she brings a girl army to glastonbury, as I want to see this in the flesh!
