4 Simple Goals – mega updates no. 3 & 4

9 Dec

Oh-kaay. Here are my last updates on the progress of my 4 Simple Goals! I have already updated on the lipstick-wearing and crafting, and my other two goals were to learn how to use my camera and to make a nice nest for myself in Brighton. So I thought I’d combine the two for this post and take some photos of my flat! I also used the photo editing tool for Mac here – ToyCamera AnalogColor. I hope you like the pics, I’ve tried to make it look homely and cute, and I’m pretty pleased with it!

This was the view from my bedroom window last week – amazing, huh?

4 Simple Goals – mega update no.1

1 Dec

All the way back in August, I set myself 4 Simple Goals to complete before 2011 rolled around. I gave a little update in September, but it’s high time for another one, since we only have a month of 2010 left! So this week, I will be posting on each of my goals.

I have had the most fun with this goal – to wear lipstick. Some might say it was frivolous… and I don’t have a comeback to that. But I am truly a convert, I don’t think I will ever not wear lipstick again! It makes looking in the mirror that much more fun, and also adds a layer of intrigue to see whether you have got it on your teeth, clothes, cheek etc.

Here I am wearing Russian Red by MAC and I have to say, it goes on like a dream. I have also tried Rivoli by Chanel and the texture is a little too creamy for my taste. Now, someone get me a beauty editor job at Grazia, stat.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates 2, 3 and 4 later this week!

4 Simple Goals – an update

22 Sep

Hallooo. I set myself 4 Simple Goals to complete before the end of 2011 over a month ago, so I thought now would be a good time to chart my progress!

No. 1 was to learn how to use my camera properly. I have been trying! You can see my photos of Climate Camp here, of Notting Hill Carnival here and of the ArtCrank bike poster party here. I know there is much, much room for improvement though so any tips would be much appreciated! Reading the manual will only get me so far.

No. 2 was to make a nice nest. Ooh and I have been busy. I am nearly done, just want to tack up a few postcards and then I’ll take some pics and put them up. I don’t why I’m nervous to show you, you don’t actually have to live here, I do!

No. 3 was to craft more. I must confess, I haven’t done anything on this front yet. I have so many plans. I also have fabric for curtains and I can’t bear to look at the current chintzy ones anymore so hopefully I will be taking action sooner rather than later. I also have an exciting art/craft/climate change project in the works which will hopefully be coming together over the next couple of months. Wait, WAIT!!! I forgot. I totally went to the Craftivist Collective meeting last week and joined in with their project. I’ll upload my photos tomorrow. TICK!!

No. 4 was to wear lipstick. That is me above, pouting my lipsticky lips at you all. Except you can’t really see it all that well. It was technically more of a “tint” today, but baby steps, my friends, baby steps. I will look like a clown soon enough, don’t you worry about that.

Notting Hill Carnival

30 Aug

A couple of weeks ago I laid out my 4 Simple Goals to achieve before the end of the year. Learning how to use my camera was goal number one! I dusted it off and had a good snap at Climate Camp, but today I actually read the manual and had a ball clicking away at Notting Hill Carnival. Here are some of my favourites. I especially liked seeing all the luxury shop fronts all boarded up and graffitied in preparation for the carnival madness and not so posh for a day.

I hope you’ve all had a great bank holiday weekend!
